Silencing the ESC

I have a brushless car ESC with reverse (model HK-30A) that I am using for a non-RC project which runs at one speed from an Arduino microprocessor. The calibration and manual control code is working fine. My goal is to mount the project such that when a standard light switch is thrown and the system powers up, it will drive the motor at the predetermined speed automatically. However, I do not want the self-check sounds from the ESC.

How can I eliminate the sounds the ESC makes on power up? I would like to modify the ESC to eliminate the chimes. Can this be done reversibly? I thought you could provide some guidance before I tear into the unit.

The ESC itself does not make the sounds. The tones you hear are actually from the motor courtesy of signals generated by the ESC.

Whether it can be disabled depends on the particular ESC. Some can be programmed to be silent but not many.
