Board: If you can't wait for the HK one to come out then I can recommend the Korean KK board. $100 USD. http://www.kkmulticopter.kr/index.html?modea=kk&modeb=KKMulticopter
It is actually a more capable board than the HK version will be. The more powerful processor allows you to run many firmware variants, even hexacopters.

I have trikopter and I plan to do quadro.
I made kk multicontroler and everything works perfectly. Software version 1.6 which is the last version. In the software has several bugs which we are currently not a problem. KK multicontroler is a great thing with that is a perfect stability. |

That motor seems to have a few bad reviews?
Any other suggestions?

Basically any motor that is between 800-1000kV and 40-60 grams. I have personal experience with the 2836/750's and they are nice, will swing a 10x4.7 APC no worries. Currently I am running RCTimer 2830/750's on APC 10x4.7.

Take the engine with less speed if you need to lift the load as FPV equipment.
If you're going with him to do acrobatics and loop you will need engines with more than 1000 rpm. I know from experience ... and as stated on page KK multicopter. If you're going to take HK ESC you will not be as stable as the Turnigy ESC because they have a much faster response. Edited by totovz - 27/May/2011 at 8:45pm |

What he is referring to is the fact that some speed controllers can accept a faster PWM update rate than the standard 50hz. I think the KK firmware runs at 400Hz or there abouts. Some controllers see this signal as garbage and will not arm or run. Some take it in their stride. Plushes and mysteries (blueseries) are two that I know of that work.
With a quad airframe like this you can go two ways about it, one is a platform capable of efficient load lifting, and the other is a responsive aerobatic machine. 750-1000kv - 10 inch props - load lifter (AP/ FPV/UAV Gear) 1200kv+ - 8 inch props - aerobatic, responsive and fast!
